Types of Slot Machines

Even though most slot machines seem to be different, there's only a few different types of slots that cover a wide range of machines. These are:

Straight Slots

Progressive Slots

Bonus Game Slots

Straight Slots

Straight slots are just that. These are slot machines that only play slots games and pay out on the standard pay table. these are the simplest games to both play and understand. These games are not complicated and don't offer any surprises.

Although straight slots are easy, there are still variations. These variations include:

  • Wildcard - This is a symbol that will substitute for any other symbol, meaning that you have more chance of a payout because this symbol can be anything at all that it needs to be.
  • The Multiplier - This is when one or more reels has a symbol that multiplies a win by a certain about, usually x2, x2, x5 etc.
  • Bonus Multiplier - This is when one of more reels has a symbol that multiples a bonus that is received if you get that symbol as well. Almost like a wild card, but only works when you get that wild card in a bonus payout.
  • Multiple Paylines - This is when there is more then one line that you can bet on to win. Some machines have up to 20 different pay lines that you can bet on and each pay line that you bet on is a new bet.
  • Buy A Pay - These are slot machines that have more then one payout table, and to bet on each payout table costs an extra bet. This means that it costs more to bet, but there are more chances to win as there are different combinations of symbols that can come up on each pay table.

Progressive Slots

Progressive slots play the same way that standard slots do, but they have one big difference that keeps a lot of players coming back to them. usually progressive slots are linked to other machines in banks, or with other groups of machines in the same casino, or sometimes even groups of machines across a lot of casinos.

When someone bets in these machines, a small percentage is taken form each bet and added to the progressive jackpot total that is available across every machine. All you have to do to win is spin up the right combination on your machine. But be warned, there are also a lot of other people trying to do the same. The good thing about this is that it is a very communal game, and lots of people love to play to see everyone win.

Bonus Game Slots

Bonus game slots are just that. They are slot machines that offer extra games when you get a certain combination of symbols on the reels. These extra games give you the chance to win extra money for no extra bets. These are some of the best because the extra games break a bit of the monotony of watching the reels spin.

The games can be anything from choosing treasure chests to find buried gold, to stopping spinning reels when you say to to get the highest bonus possible. these extra games are always worth looking out for.
